“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face.”—1 Corinthians 13:12
Now We See Dimly is a hand-stitched triptych that gathers twenty-four saints from many centuries and cultures into a single field of light and shadow. Their lives - marked by intellectual pursuit, mystical love, evangelical poverty, charity, sacrifice, and courageous witness - are paired across tiers that reveal the quiet ways grace passes from one life to another. At the summit, Thomas Aquinas and Catherine of Siena embody truth contemplated and truth enacted, while at the center a mirror invites us in. As one draws near, their own reflection joins the cloud of witnesses, suggesting that holiness is not distant but unfolding within ordinary lives through patience, devotion, and moral courage. Like the slow rhythm of stitching that formed the work, sainthood emerges through repeated acts of love and fidelity. The piece ultimately becomes an invitation: to lean closer, to recognize our place among the saints, and to glimpse (even dimly) at the radiant promise of heaven.
